On June 28, 1997, Genesee Yacht Club held the Scotch Bonnet Light Race. Because of extremely light winds throughout the event only 3 monohull boats out of 30 finished the race within the time limit. Earth Voyager, a 60 foot trimaran skippered by Ray Howe easily finished early in the morning, hours before the time limit. There were two more multihulls which did not finish before the time limit.
